76 days to go: The Brazilian victory machine

FIFA counts down to the World Cup 2026 with a daily statistical story.

Brazil have won a record 76 World Cup games. They are followed by Germany (68), Argentina (47), Italy (45), France (39), England (32), Spain (31), the Netherlands (30), Uruguay (25) and Belgium (21). The Seleção also boast the best victory percentage in the global finals (67). Next come Germany (61), the Netherlands (54), Italy (54), France (53), Argentina (53) and Türkiye (50).

Brazil are the only team to have participated in all 22 World Cups, and have registered a win in every one except Italy 1934, when they took 12 days to arrive in Genoa by ship only to be eliminated three days later by Spain, whom they’d picked up en route!
